The Louvre is vast. It is an
incredible treasure trove of historical art, and cannot be fully experienced in
one visit, it is better to plan to visit one or two areas over several days or
you will find yourself rushing around to the 'main' exhibits, and missing so much
else. The seven basic categories of the museum's collections are Greek and Roman
antiquities, Egyptian antiquities, sculpture, painting, graphic arts, and
decorative arts. Each section is housed in at least one wing and over several
floors, with the most popular wing being Denon which exhibits sculpture by
Michaelangelo, as well as Da Vinci's Mona Lisa.
