This museum is a chronological
catalogue of Picasso's life and work, and was started by works the French State
received in payment of death duties after Picasso passed away in 1973. The
exhibition comprises of all his engraving and ceramic work, along with more than
250 paintings, 1500 drawings and 160 sculptures. Unfortunately most of Picasso's
paintings are in private collections, or other larger museums, but his most
notable sculptural works are on display, including the Bull's Head and The Goal.
What is also notable is the exhibition of Picasso's own art collection, which
consists of tribal masks, paintings by Matisse, Renoir and Cezanne, and
photographs and portraits of his family and close friends.
